Aromatherapy - A Word Of Caution

Essential Oils are highly concentrated substances and it is important to be aware of, and follow, a few cautionary guidelines to help you to gain the most benefit from the oils.

Safety Directions: Please read the following carefully before using any essential oils

  • Never use essential oils undiluted on the skin (Dilute with vegetable oils such as sweet almond oil or grapeseed oil)
  • Essential oils should not be taken orally unless under the guidance of a health care professional.
  • Keep all essential oils safe and out of the reach of children. Neat(undiluted application) essential oils may be hazardous to children.
  • Essential oils are flammable. Keep away from fire and ignition sources.
  • To check for allergic reactions or skin sensitization do a skin patch test before using a new oil. If redness, itching, burning, or blistering occurs within 24 hrs. discontinue use.

  • Keep oils away from eyes and mucous membranes.
  • Always use the smallest amount of oil that will do the job.
  • For children and babies, always reduce the recommended amount by half, or more. Definitely avoid any oils that are known to be an irritant.
