SCENTING

Scenting your lingerie

It is easy to perfume your own lingerie. When you are washing your delicate and seductive items by hand, just add two drops of essential oil to the final rinse. If you are washing by machine then put four drops to a small amount of water and add to the final rinse in the softener section.

Sensual oils for your lingerie

  • Bergamot
  • Geranium
  • Neroli
  • Ylang Ylang

It is advisable not to use absolutes or the thick heavy oils to perfume your lingerie as they may stain the fabric.

You can also perfume your lingerie in your chest of drawers and in your wardrobe. Sprinkle about six drops of essential oils of rose, myrtle, jasmine, neroli, bergamot, geranium, ylang ylang, patchouli, frankincense or sandalwood or whatever your preference is on to cotton-wool balls and place them in greaseproof bags. Prick holes in the bags to allow the wonderful fragrances to permeate into your clothing. Place these bags into your drawers or hang them up inside your wardrobe.

Beautiful aromatic silk bags make wonderful presents. Cut out a circle of silk and stitch around the circumference with a thick thread. Place a cotton-wool ball which has been sprinkled with essential oils into the centre of the silk circle. Gather up the thread so that the cotton-wool ball(s) is enclosed by the silk.

Sew on a piece of thin ribbon so that you can hang up your pomander. Particularly suitable essential oils would be: frankincense, patchouli, rose, jasmine, vetivert and ylang ylang as these aromas will last a long time.

You can even make your own drawer liners to perfume your clothes. Sprinkle six drops of essential oil on to squares of blotting paper or any absorbent pieces of paper.

Scenting your bedlinen

Scented bedlinen is sensual and it is easy to do. There are several methods:

  • Put four drops of essential oil into a small amount of water and add to the softener section of your washing machine for the final rinse.
  • Fill a small plant spray with spring water, add ten drops of the essential oils of your own choice and then spray the bottom sheet lightly.
  • Put a few drops of your chosen essential oils on to cotton-wool balls or on to pieces of absorbent, natural material and place them between the sheets in your airing cupboard, or inside your pillow case.

Scenting your bedroom

A clay burner or radiator fragrancer is the perfect way to create a romantic and sensual environment. Put a few teaspoons of water into the loose bowl on top of your clay burner and sprinkle six drops into it. Light the night light to allow the oils to diffuse into the air.

Candles are also perfect for scenting your bedroom and creating a romantic scene. Light your candle and wait until the wax has slightly melted and then carefully put one to two drops of essential oil into the melted wax, taking care to avoid the wick. The following suggestions may be useful:

· To a pink candle add essential oil of rose to encourage new love, romance and gentleness;
· To a red candle add ylang ylang to induce passion and sexuality;
· To a violet candle add frankincense to add an air of mystery.

Massage

Massage is an excellent way of arousing your partner and it is not necessary to have had a training in massage to achieve the desired effect. Just follow your instincts. Pay particular attention to the abdominal area, especially the area from the navel to the pubis and the low back and buttocks. There are some effective points for boosting sexual energy and heightening sexual response.

To set the scene, scent your room with one of the recipes already suggested and light a few candles around the room.

The following essential oils are ideal for increasing sexual desire: benzoin, bergamot, black pepper, cinnamon, clary sage, frankincense, ginger, jasmine, melissa, myrtle, neroli, palmarosa, patchouli, petitgrain, rose, sandalwood, vetivert and ylang ylang.
