Choosing a Massage Style |
|||
Take your time choosing a massage style. You need to be comfortable with the therapist and the level of physical contact if you are to gain the maximum benefits from the treatment.
Sports therapist specialise in techniques most suited for sports injury, based on increasing blood flow to the damaged site. These are often applied with more vigour and greater tissue manipulationthan general massage requiring furter in depth trainingand examination inphysiologyand anatomy. Physical Therapists may may even manipulate, affecting tissues and muscles connected to the skeletal system. Physiotherapists use either hands-on massage or, mre commonly, infra-red or mechanical vibrating eqipment to produce massage applications, for example:
These are all proven methods to increase your blood circulation and enhance the healing process to painful joints and injuries. Aromatherapy massage adds a pleasing odour, important to our sense of well being. The sense of smell is acheived through the nasal cavity by the olfactory nerves, which are directly connected to the limbic system- the shortest direct link o the brain. This is why memories triigger so rapidly in response to a familiar smell, and why the body reacts quickly with emotion. Whatever style you choose, your massage should be a pleasant experience with an end result of a sense of well-being and a better functioning body; one that is less prone to injury and happier at the end of the day.
