Reiki

Reiki(pronounced as Ray-kee) is a Japanese touch therapy for relaxation and pain relief that also promotes healing involving the placement of hands onto the body in order to channel energy.

Rei means Universal or all-knowing and all-encompasing. Ki means life-force energy and is the same as Chi in Chinese or Prana in Sanskrit.

Unlike other healing therapies based on the premise of a human energy field, Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced. The person being treated is not "healed" by the Reiki practitioner. The client's healing comes from the "universal life force" that flows through the practitioner. The person giving Reiki is not drained of their own life energy, but actually is replenished in the process. Reiki also protects the practitioner from taking on the pain and dysfunction of another person.

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.

Is Reiki a Religion?

No, Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based on the acceptance of any religious doctrine. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

While Reiki is not a religion, for optimum well being in the light of Eastern medical theory that we are a mind-body-spirit unity, it is necessary to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others.I
