Athlete's Foot (tinea pedis) |
|||
The warm, damp conditions inside training shoes and in changing rooms are ideal for the development of the fungal infection known as 'athlete's foot'. The fungus makes the skin between the toes moist, cracked and whitish in appearance. The skin will itch and can be painful if the cracks deepen. There may also be an offensive smell. The fungus is infectious and is easily spread via floors on which people walk barefoot. Athlete Foot TreatmentThis fungal infection can be persistent and difficult to eradicate with orthodox medicine. The essential oils, lavender, myrrh and tea tree are all fungicidal and are excellent for healing athlete's foot. Athlete's foot essential oilsBathe the feel daily in a bowl of water to which you have added: 2 drops of lavender 2 drops of myrrh 2 drops of tea tree (Remember to dilute it in 10 ml of carrier oil) To prevent a reoccurence wash the feet regularly and thoroughly dry them afterwards. Wear socks made of natural materials such as wool or cotton and change them frequently. Sufferers should avoid going barefoot in changing rooms and swimming pools and should not allow anyone else to use their towels, shoes or socks.
